The ISO 20000 Standard:
ISO 20000 was developed for IT Service providers to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain, and improve their IT service management system (SMS).
ISO 20000 uses many of the principles of ISO 9001 similar to other management system standards, e.g., ISO 17025 (Laboratories), ISO 13485 (Medical Devices).
ISO 20000 differentiates from ISO 9001 by specifying additional/other requirements that are specifically related to the IT service industry. One of the key differences is that ISO 20000 is also based on the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
